yoga etiquette
Be on time. This will maximize your class time. Being on time communicates to others that you value their time and practice.
Turn off cell phones and beepers. This will help to keep your mind focused on your experience and others will be able to relax in a more peaceful environment.
Minimize talking during class. Please feel free to signal me if you have a question or need assistance. The goal is to try and create an environment where each student can concentrate on their poses and can enjoy the class until the instructor closes class with, “Thank you for coming”.
Put away props neatly. Help keep our props in good condition and ready for the next class.
Wear comfortable clothes. This will help you participate fully in the class. Traditionally, yoga is practiced in bare feet so you can safely anchor your feet during standing and balance poses.
Store non-essential items in closet. This will free up space in class and will help keep the floor clean and neat for all.
Refrain from using strong perfumes. Some students are sensitive to certain perfumes. Strong scents may be distracting for some.
Save gum for after class. The goal is to reduce as many distractions as possible for you and the other students.
Thank you and Namaste.
